No, this is not a newly-discovered photo of the team. This is a photo that reminded me of the "No climbing on the walls" stipulation for the state competition...

About the Club

The Olivia Davidson Washington Mock Trial Club teaches high school students to pursue excellence through meticulous preparation. Since it is independent of a formal school institution, the Club meets in members' houses during evenings.

Olivia Davidson Washington (1854-1889) was born a slave in West Virginia, but moved to Albany, a small town near Athens, as a child. Olivia received her education at the Hampton Institute and became a teacher. Gaining notoriety, she was contacted by Booker T. Washington and helped him found the Tuskegee Institute. The two were later married in Athens. The Club seeks to honor Mrs. Washington by continuing her legacy of hard work and non-traditional education.

Team History

2011: team advances through district and regional to state, where they where they advance to the championship round.

2010: name changed to current name; participants split into two teams. Team Douglass advances to regionals; Team Booker advances to state-wide Final Four.

2009: team advances through district and regional to state

2008: team advances through district and regional to state

2007: OCLRE adds regional competitions and revises rules so that more than one team can move past district; team advances to regional competition

2006: team is founded and advances through district to state.
